Nominations and elections for Local 183 officers and boards will be held November 14th, 2023. Anyone wishing to nominate someone (themselves included) for office should be present at the November 14th, 2023 meeting to make that nomination. Elections will be held the same night for contested seats.

Iowa Troublemaker’s School (Hosted by Labor Notes)

Bringing together union members, labor activists, and local officers, a Troublemakers School is an incredible space for networking, building solidarity, and sharing successes, strategy, and inspiration. It’s a real shot in the arm for newbies and seasoned activists alike. 

Members who attend will get inspired. Hear speakers from the front lines of recent struggles.

They’ll also get trained. The one-day conference features interactive workshops, panels and meetings, ranging from crucial basic skills like helping your colleagues beat apathy to advanced topics like winning first contracts and running for union office.

Building Justice (UI Labor Center)

Building Justice: how wage theft in construction affects us all & what we can do to raise standards

Wage theft and other worker abuses are rampant in the construction industry. With historic funding for infrastructure projects, how can we promote good

jobs, support responsible contractors, and address abuses in the industry?

Join workers, students, faculty, labor & environmental leaders, elected officials, and guest speakers for an interactive, solution-oriented discussion about this critical issue.
